The F4 is a little harder to use as the zoom range is pretty compressed. I own both the 24-105 F/4 L IS and the 24-70mm f/2.8L II. I much prefer the 24-70 as I don't find that the IS benefits me that much and it just feels better in use. I'd also consider the 24-105 f/3.5-5.6 STM. Yes, it's slower, but it's also 300g lighter and $1200 less.

The Canon RF 24-105mm F4 L IS USM zooms a bit further than the 24-70mm F2.8, and while it gathers less light, it's a fine choice for photographers who prefer a bit extra zoom power. MSRP $1,299.00
Any other lens recommendations would be great. On the fence about the 35mm lens as well. At 24mm it takes good wide angle shots fairly close up and 105mm at f4 will give you similar bokeh to a 50 1.8 at f2 and it’s got IS. Pretty great all around lens, but not if you don’t think you’ll use the focal lengths.

Reputation: 44. #2. 12-29-2022, 11:27 PM. It is generally a misconception to think that a 24-70mm f/2.8 (also 16-35mm f/2.8 or 70-200mm f/2.8) are better because they are more expensive. They are primarily more expensive because they are faster - meaning that the manufacturers have to put in extra efforts to maintain high quality at faster speeds.
